The Chapel is proud to sponsor local arts events. It is equipped for meetings, small performances, and also for teaching, in both the Chapel space and also in attached room and classroom. In addition to hosting suitable performances, in music, dance and theatre, the Chapel has hosted painting classes and plans to hold media and video classes in the near future.

For all the young at heart, and the not so young, this proved to be a strong and popular piece!

New Dance performed locally

A program of danceworks, titled "Khorus", was held at the Bushland Chapel, Parkes Street Helensburgh, on the first three weekends of September. This program offers a mix of contemporary styles, performed to a high standard by dance artists. One piece was previously performed at the National Gallery, Canberra, and has been reviewed as "beguiling" and "enticing" by the Canberra Times. The program featured new work by local choreographer Lisa McDonell, and music by international experimental musician Kraig Grady. This was a rare opportunity to see quality dance work at a local venue.

The dance show was popular with young and old, and well attended every night. A night of energy and imagination, with themes and inspiration well suited to the chapel space.

Robina Beard, Ilya merxhushi, Lara Pigott, Kraig Grady, Elaine Balderston, Heather Lillington and Geoffrey Sykes, final night, Tom's Women, January 2009
